Cllr Terry Hall (TDBC)

I joined British Telecom direct after leaving University. My first appointment being in the east end of London, followed by a transfer to my Home town of Torquay, then Exeter, Bristol and finally Taunton.

Both my sons obtained PhDs but sadly my eldest son Mark died in the USA, whilst researching a cure for blood cancers. My younger son Edward is a University lecturer in Mathematics.

It has been both a pleasure and a privilege to have been a Taunton Deane Borough Council Councillor for the Manor and Wilton Ward for over 20 years. The most pleasure being able to assist residents of the Ward about issues which concern them, probably the most frequent complaints concerning parking and planning.

I am particularly pleased that after about six years of campaigning for relief from the commuter parking associated with Musgrove Park Hospital, arrangements were introduced which removed the blight of the commuters and provided parents to safely deliver and collect children from the local primary school.

In addition it has been good to be a team member of Conservatives on the Council which has achieved many improvements to the Borough. Notably these have been to a substantial increase the number of affordable homes being built.

Many of the plans the Council has been working on will soon come to fruition, after many delays the Firepool development will soon begin. The new business park at Junction 25 of the M5 should be occupied by 2020 with improvements made to the junction and the Creech Castle and Wickes roundabout also being improved.

My priorities are to improve the already pleasant environment we enjoy in Taunton Deane.
