Cllr Stephen Martin-Scott (TDBC)

Stephen has represented various areas of south west Taunton on both Somerset County Council and Taunton Deane Borough Council for the past 16 years. He is Deputy Chairman of the SW Taunton Conservative Association.

Married, with three children (two who live and work locally) Stephen has been a Governor at Castle School, at a local primary and at Musgrove Park Hospital. He is active in the Wilton & Sherford Community Association and has been successful in securing priority for local residents' parking believing the interests of residents should always rank above commuters’.

Protecting the Vivary Green Wedge is very important to him and he has fought in several‘ local ‘battles’ to protect it from incursions. For the last 3+ years he has been an active participant in developing the Trull & Staplehay Neighbourhood Plan which, in June 2017, was overwhelmingly endorsed in a local referendum. As a result its carefully crafted principles now have to be recognised in local TDBC planning decision-making and many more areas of the locality now have the highest legal protection from unwanted developments.

His wider community interests include being an active trustee of the Bishop Fox’s Educational Foundation, a charity that financially helps local 11-24 year-olds achieve their educational and developmental aspirations.
