He has held numerous positions within Taunton Deane including being Executive Councillor for the Environment, Housing, Planning, Business Development and has for the last seven years been the Deputy Leader of the Council.
In recent years he has been working hard to speak out for Taunton at all levels of Government to make sure we get our fair share of inward investment and is extremely proud to have played his part in securing the funds for Northern Inner Distributor Road, Taunton Railway Station and the upgrades being progressed for Toneway, Junction 25, the A358 from Taunton to Ilminster and the upgrade of the A303 corridor.
He has also long had ambitions to re-open Wellington Railway Station and is with other local authorities and organisations such as the Local Enterprise Partnership and Network Rail investigating the feasibility of a metro rail line between Exeter and Taunton which would enable the re opening of the Station. In addition he is determined to finds a way to protect the Tonedale and Toneworks Heritage sites in Wellington for which a solution is urgently required to protect these important buildings.
Mark is passionate about Taunton Deane and the surrounding villages as he has grown up in the area and is determined that Taunton maintains its identity whilst still being ambitious and encouraging inward investment so bringing the quality jobs that the area requires.
