Jane Warmington has lived in Cothelstone for over thirty years, is married to a farmer and has been a district councillor for six years in a team of three in the seven parish Bishops Lydeard ward (where she is also on the parish council).
Jane is a member of the Executive with responsibilities for Community Leadership and her borough wide remit concentrates on disadvantaged areas. She is lead councillor for the frontline multi-agency Halcon One Team problem-solving approach, improving lives; helped widen it to two other urban areas after a successful bid to the Home Office and the model is now operating in seven areas across Somerset. She has helped increase the coverage of Village Agents in the rural parishes and is the lead councillor for the voluntary and community sector in Taunton Deane and helped establish the Somerset West Lottery to further support them.
She chairs the local Taunton Deane Strategic Partnership and is on the Council's Rural Group. She is a keen advocate of the AONB services which adds to our enjoyment of the Quantock and Blackdown Hills. Jane sits on the Taunton Deane & West Somerset Getset (Children's Centres) Area Advisory Board and is also on several county-wide committees including the Safer Somerset Partnership, the Health & Wellbeing Board and the Police & Crime Panel. The Community Leadership portfolio has strong links with the Housing portfolio but also Economic Development, Sports & Leisure and the Environment. Jane is a mother of three and grandmother of two whose glass is invariably half full.
